Nighttime Show (and other stuff...) Coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

   Late last night Disney Parks Blog finally announced news that we broke back in July.  Disney's Animal Kingdom will be getting some hefty upgrades in the coming years...including the aforementioned nighttime show.  The show, which we speculate will be called Rivers Of Light, will feature floating lanterns, water screens, and projections on the Tree Of Life.

   In addition to that show, a night time version of Kilimanjaro Safari will now be offered, as well as new nighttime entertainment!  If that wasn't enough, the first official "Avatarland" concept art was shared as well.  This large addition to the park will apparently feature two new attractions and gorgeous  environments.

   I'm super excited about all this news finally coming out.  I love Animal Kingdom, and think its about time that it gets the attention it deserves.  Make sure to listen to this weeks episode of Disney Hipsters Too, where I'm sure we will discuss this topic at length, as well as the rest of this weeks Disney news.

Princess Fairytale Hall Opening in the Magic Kingdom on September 18th!

   The wait is finally over.  Nearly a year and a half after shuttering my beloved Snow White's Scary Adventure, the new princess meet and greet will have its official opening on September 18th.  I understand that Imagineering can take a while...but doesn't this seem like an exhaustingly long time?  Even though I'll never get over the loss of dear Snow White, I sincerely hope this is a home run for Fantasyland...because lord knows "old Fantasyland" needs some help.

The Contemporary's California Grill Finally Re-Opening...

   People have been on edge lately awaiting one of the most highly scrutinized restaurant refurbishments in recent history, California Grill. Well, you guys can finally settle down a little bit, because the beloved signature restaurant is finally set to re-open! Reservations will begin rolling out on August 26th... a mere 13 days before the official seating on September 9th. Cutting it a little bit close, right?!?!
   We're super excited for this restaurant to be back in the game!  With a fabulous new look, and a vastly different menu I'm sure California Grill will garner a lot of buzz upon reopening.  Plus, I know a lot of people who've been missing the panoramic view of the Magic Kingdom! Yippy!

Say Goodbye To The UK Pavilion's "Hat Lady"

   wdwmagic.com is reporting the demise of the beloved "Hat Lady Show" at the Rose And Crown Pub in the UK pavilion at Epcot.  The rowdy pub enjoyed a mid day lift in spirits when the Hat Lady would perform her shtick...unfortunately starting today that show is no more.
   Though the pub will still have live piano based singsongs, the pushy nature of the Hat Lady will be sorely missed by the pubs ravenous patrons.  Thus another charming aspect of Epcot bites the dust...replaced, presumably, by a watered down version of the same.

Saving Mr. Banks! Finally! A Trailer!

   The wait is over!  A rather lengthy, very plot driven trailer has debuted for the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks! Do not watch this if you want to be surprised in the theater come December.  If you are anything of a Disney history fan you probably already know the story and can watch at your own leisure.

Finally! Some Kind Of Trailer For Disney's Frozen...

  The Disney company finally released a teaser trailer for Frozen.  I'm not sure how I feel about this.  It has a lot of Dreamworks humor going on in it...but then again, so did all of the trailers leading up to Tangled.  Take a peek for yourself, below...

Disney's Fantasia Video Game For Xbox.

   You guys, this is bad. Like, really really bad.  Disney has made a game loosely based on the animated classic Fantasia. And by loose, I mean, not even recognizable in the slightest.   Essentially Dance Dance Revolution with some sort of "remixing the song" element as well.  See the awfulness for yourself below...

 

Drunken Joyride

So apparently, these 2 drunken fools (akin to our hearts) stole a golf cart at Disney's Boardwalk Resort and went on a bit of a wild ride, beer in hand.  After a while of cheerful, be it dangerous, driving, they randomly drove past a local sheriff and were quickly apprehended. This is normally not something we'd write about, but I stuck me as odd that this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. Disney World has become more and more alcohol fueled over the last few years and there are countless vehicles such as ECVs and golf carts left unattended all the time. I wonder if they'll be changed with a DUI or just simple theft?? Also why do they look so grumpy?!? If you're going to get arrested in WDW, I really can't think of a better way to go about it.

Newish Lone Ranger Trailer...

   Released a few days ago, the new trailer for Disney's upcoming The Lone Ranger is the most palatable yet.  Short, concise, and a focus on story actually makes me (kind of) want to see this movie.  Where the other trailers are bogged down with the supernatural aspects of the story (a problem Gore Verbinski has had before...) this one gets right to the point.

EA and Disney Team up for some new Start Wars Video Games!

General Disney Parks/Film News has been fairly dry for the last few days, but Disney just announced an exclusive 3 year deal with Electronic Arts (EA) to generate new Star Wars games!

2 New Limited Time Magics Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Two more additional (and previously suspected) Limited Time Magics were announced today and we're soooo stinking mad about one of them. The 1st is a Cinco de Mayo celebration between May 5th - 11th which includes a meet and greet with ALL THREE CABALLEROS!!! Seriously. You get to meet Donald, Jose and Panchito all at the same time. We arrive on May 12th. Sigh. I imagine the awesomeness will look something like this:

Secondly, there will be a Special Event in the Magic Kingdom on May 11th in which Merida is officially welcomed as a Disney Princess. This, I'm quite sure, will be fairly terrible and pointless, but you never know. Hopefully she'll have a Scottish accent during the presentation.
